Why Forgiving Isn't Forgetting

 Wise readers:
Why is forgiving so hard? Probably because of myths about what forgiveness is.
Forgiveness isn’t:
*forgetting
*saying (or thinking) “it’s no big deal”
*living without boundaries, remaining vulnerable, or letting them do it again
*telling them that you forgave them.
It is reclaiming your peace by letting go of anger—while setting whatever boundaries you need to to be safe.
And of all the topics I taught across 20 years, this one brought the most letters saying it improved people’s lives.
Here’s a how-to—science-approved, of course!

How To Fight So Your Relationship Wins

Wise Readers,

Is there a ‘right’ way to argue? What’s the magic ratio of positive interactions to negative, to avoid going flat-broke at the Bank of Love? How can you use inevitable conflicts to bring the two of you closer? And why are the happiest couples the most (not least) likely to bring up what bugs them?

Find this and more in this recent webinar!

Peace In Relationships webinar series: Avoiding abusers: Coping with relationship pain during Covid and beyond
Healthy relationships require effective ways to deal with conflict. During tough times like the pandemic, our coping tools can get strained, and we might engage in hurtful patterns of interacting. How do we understand ourselves and others, and make decisions that avoid needless heartache? In the third session in this four-part webinar series, Love Factually author Dr. Duana Welch will present a science-based perspective on avoiding abusers:
What is abuse? Science shows it’s probably not what you thought it was—and early detection is key. In this webinar, you’ll learn the early warning signs and red flags before you spend years or decades in an abusive relationship—and what to do if you or someone you love is already there.
