I find it off-putting when a woman wants to pay for herself on an actual date. I don't find it threatening, and It's not some male chauvinist, macho powertrip on my part, but rather (to me) I can't help but feel that it's a form of signaling disinterest by trying to distance herself by paying--like if she pays, the occasion that was initially a date retroactively becomes a platonic meal.
