I am delighted to announce that Francis J. Flaherty, story doctor extraordinaire and author of The Elements of Story: Field Notes on Nonfiction Writing
Mr. Flaherty, who has bachelor’s and law degrees from Harvard, spent 20 years as an editor with the New York Times. He teaches journalism at Columbia, NYU, and Gotham.
His credentials, wisdom, creativity, ideas, and experience drew me in, yes. But even more, Frank has two qualities all LoveScience readers know to be indispensable in any endeavor: Kindness and Respect. His students love him, and that can only come about from qualities of heart, not mere instruction. Reading their words about him left me hoping he would see the potential in my book, and want to collaborate.
