Election Jitters and Partnering

Nervous about the election? Wishing you had a partner who shares your core values? You may be alone—but you’re not alone in these feelings.

In 2016, people planned election watch parties with big groups, including folks they barely knew. The Dems among us were devastated, with many unwilling to experience the intensity of this election night by themselves. This year, with Covid and an election that for most feels and is terribly high-stakes, many folks not only can’t safely watch with just anyone—they don’t want to. 

This article today at the Washington Post, in which I’m interviewed, covers the realities of the need for meaningful human connection when we feel uncertain, during a pandemic that’s not only contributing to but thwarting that need.
